WELW and the Senior Connection Radio Show Connects with Seniors in the Community May 1999 Lori J. Schmitt
R.N Over sixty residents of Mayfield Heights filled the Service Center at the Schnurman House in Mayfield Heights to be a part of a live radio broadcast brought to you by WELW. Special guests included, Mayfield Heights Mayor Peg Egansperger, Schnurman Board member Mary Kaye Bozza, activities director Marcia Rosenthal as well as several Health care professionals. Dr. George Heathcote of Active Chiropractic, discussed exercise programs and vitamin therapy. Dr. Riad Laham, Cleveland Clinic Pain Management specialist and Eileen Sell, Nurse Manager of Hillcrest Pain Management center, discussed the topic of pain management options and trends in pain management. Prudential SeniorCare representatives gave the audience updates on the balanced budget act and IHS Homecare representatives provided free blood pressure screenings during the event. Much audience participation contributed to the overall success of the fun-filled afternoon. Radio station owner, Ray Somich held raffles for upcoming ice shows and family oriented programs held in Cleveland. This show was sponsored by The Cleveland Clinic Pain Management Centers, Prudential HealthCare Senior Care, ManorCare Health Services, and Reminger and Reminger. Part of the commitment of the Senior Connection radio show is to deliver a community based radio show that enhances the lives of seniors by providing them with current information on areas of interest to seniors and those that care about them. This show was no exception. The Senior Connection radio show goes on the road again in May. On May 11, the show will be broadcast live from the Garfield Heights Senior Center and on May 18; the broadcast will be at the Shaker Heights Senior Center.
